Last week, Google rolled out the Google Penguin update, which featured an update to the search algorithm that should help identify and penalize websites that use spam techniques to get higher search rankings.

Pinterest is growing at record speeds, and it can be a great place to spread your content and gain more exposure and traffic for your blog. Charnita Fance from WP Mods put together a great list of Pinterest WordPress plugins that can help with pinning and showing off pins.

Here are a couple of tools that weren’t included in Charnita’s list that you might want to check out, too. I use the Really Simple Facebook Twitter Share Buttons plugin on some of my blogs and WordPress websites. It includes a Pin It button to make it easy for your blog visitors to pin content from your blog to their Pinterest pinboards.

Another handy tool is the Pin A Quote bookmarklet that lets you pin quotes in seconds. A paid version allows you to format pinned quotes so they look great on your pinboards.

Today, the Blogger Buzz blog featured a post introducing Google Affiliate Ads for Blogger.com, which enable bloggers to add another moneymaking feature to their blogs.

You can start displaying Google Affiliate Ads on your Blogger blog right now. Just log into your Earnings tab from your Blogger dashboard and click “Get Started.” An affiliate ad widget labeled “Advertiser Products” will appear in your Post Settings panel within the post editor. You’ll be able to choose text, image, or banner ads to display on your blog, and you’ll earn money each time someone clicks on the affiliate ad and completes a purchase on the advertiser’s website.
