This month, Google announced that it’s shutting down a number of its tools and services, including a couple that many bloggers use. In a blog post announcement, the company explained that its focus would be on Google+ and extraneous related services would get the axe.
- Google Buzz: The social networking and social bookmarking site Google Buzz that debuted in February 2010 is shutting down in a few weeks.
- Jaiku: the microblogging site Jaiku, which Google acquired in 2007, will shut down on January 15, 2012.
Other Google services that will disappear by mid-January 2012 include Code Search, Like.com, Boutiques.com, iGoogle’s social features, and the University Research Program for Google Search.
If you use any of these services, be sure to read the complete Google announcement so you can prepare accordingly.
